Deeptech
Health Science
AI Discovery: Deeptech is a co-curricular ten-module programme designed for post-graduates and postdocs from University of Edinburgh and University of Glasgow. The programme brings together academics and graduate students from both universities with the wider Techscaler network, to teach participants the basics of building a startup, with a focus on stimulating AI Deeptech startups in health science.
AI Discovery: Deeptech consists of practical, collaborative modules followed by hackathons, in which participants will have the opportunity to work together using synthetic NHS data to create a product, build a notional business model around it, and pitch it to investors.
Objectives and Outcomes

Gain an understanding the end-to-end process of building an AI-driven startup.

Become equipped to identify, validate, and address real-world challenges using AI.

Gain foundational knowledge of regulatory, business, and technical aspects specific to Health Science.

Develop practical skills in pitching, team building, and MVP development.

Build a network of potential collaborators, mentors, and investors.

Have the opportunity to become a Techscaler member, and access further programmes, mentoring and support.
Workshop Details
The programme begins on 3 March 2025, 14.00 - 17.00 in Edinburgh and will finish week commencing 19 May, with a break 7 to 18 April. Workshops will be 2-3 hours in duration, on a weekly basis and will be held in-person in Edinburgh or Glasgow, with
online remote access.
Modules will be presented by academics from both universities, and relevant current practitioners from the Techscaler network.

Who should apply?
Post-graduates and postdoctoral researchers from The University of Edinburgh and University of Glasgow. We particularly welcome applications from those with a STEM background. Applications to AI Discovery: Deeptech are now closed.
